Liverpool Cityscape Two - Peter Gibson-Black

Hand drawn over 180 hours and now yours to own, capture an essence of Merseyside with this exclusive digital drawing, part of the Cityscapes of Liverpool series.

I chose to draw this piece as a challenge more than anything else. I just wanted to see if I had the patience, as I knew it would take well over 100 hours. So I began the process, drawing away at section after section, street after street, chimneys, scaffolds, cars, windows, doors, streetlamps, buses, people and many, many trees. After a few months of drawing and countless cups of tea and coffee I completed the piece in 180 hours. This piece has been chosen to print in large format canvass as the detail within demands a certain scale.

The view includes the University campuses at the top of Bronlow Hill and London Road, Hope Street and the beautiful Georgian facades of Gambier Terrace, once a rented flat for The Beatles, Hope Street’s - Blackburn House, St Bride’s Neoclassical Georgian Church on Catharine Street as well as Saint Philip Neri Church; The Greek Orthodox Church of St Nicholas on Princes Avenue heading towards Sefton Park, Liverpool Women’s Hospital, Upper Parliament Street, Toxteth’s amazing architecture, Al-Rahma Mosque on Mulgrave Street and Park Road heading South into The Dingle and back toward the docks and The River Mersey towards Otterspool.

Printed with a 12-colour Giclée process on a premium substrate, each custom stretched canvas is hand-finished and mounted on a European knotless pine frame. Its curved profile minimizes contact, while finger jointed tensioning and wooden wedges help prevent warping.
